So over the past week, I’ve done major damage in the terms of purchasing nail polish. Here’s my week’s worth of a haul. In total, I got 6 new lacquers.
From left to right, the lacquers are:
Essie - Playa del Platinum
Essie - Lapis of Luxury
Joe Fresh - Nude
Joe Fresh - White
Joe Fresh - Gunmetal
Revlon - Minted
The Essie’s I got from Trade Secrets, where they always have an ongoing promotion of 15% off when you purchase two products of regular price. Each of them were $8.95 each, and with the promotion it came out to be around ~$17, a little bit less or a little bit more, I can’t exactly remember. It’s so hard to find Essie for anything cheaper than that in Canada because Sally’s doesn’t carry it. And even though Shoppers Drug Mart carries some shades, they’re each priced at $11.95, expensive no? I love Essie, but it really is expensive, even though you’re getting 15 mL out of each bottle, but seriously, who ever uses up all of their lacquers? I really wish they would make the bottles smaller and the prices lower in ratio to the bottle size, but oh well.
The Joe Fresh lacquers I found at Loblaws, but you can also purchase them at The Real Canadian Superstore as well. These two are grocery stores that I think are limited to only Canada. The bottles for these are a lot smaller, 6 mL each and the prices are amazing as well. They are going for $4 each, or 3 for $10. Now you might think that drug store brands aren’t as good as the higher end lacquers but that’s where all stigmas go wrong. The Joe Fresh lacquers have a wide brush like China Glaze (which I like), and all of the colors take only a maximum of 2 coats each to achieve opacity. Though the formulas have good coverage, they are not thick in any way at all that makes the polish clump. Neither are they streaky. Drying time was quick too, maybe about 1-2 minutes per coat. Overall, I really recommend the Joe Fresh line of lacquers to anyone that is looking for polishes with a good payoff while being inexpensive.
The Revlon Minted polish I also got from Loblaws as well, but I’m pretty sure that they can be purchased at any other drug stores or Revlon Counters. The formula was a little bit thin but overall I was quite happy with the result.
Over the next few days, I’ll review one lacquer at a time with pictures to accompany each review. I hope these help out anyone looking for new shades to sport for the Spring season! :)
