So this is the Revlon [Limited Edition] in Minted. I bought this one on whim when I was at Loblaws walking around the beauty aisle. You get 14.7 mL for $4.95. Not that bad of a price considering that I’ve purchased nail polish for $10 a bottle before. I tried really really hard to like this polish but in the end I decided that I don’t think I can. The only thing that remotely appealed to me was the color. It’s very similar to Essie’s Mint Candy Apple. Other than that, this lacquer was a tragedy.
Formula: It sucked. Plain and simple. I retake what I said in my haul post about loving this lacquer. That’s probably because I applied to fake nails to swatch for myself before actually trying it out. It applied very very streaky and it took me a total of 4 coats just to get the opacity that you see in the pictures. Though it was really thin, it didn’t dry evenly and I had lots of ridges and bubbles forming.
Drying: I applied the lacquer at night so that it could dry and I could use the sunlight the next morning to capture how it looked. However even though I applied it several hours before heading to bed, creases and dents still occurred while I slept. So overall, not a quick drying process.
Durability: I took the pictures right after washing my face the next morning. As you can see in the pictures, it’s already started to chip at the tops and peel slightly on my middle finger’s cuticle. I would have liked it to at least last 3-4 days before seeing and visible chips.
Color: Overall, I really really love this color, anything pastel and pale catches my attention. Especially now that I’ve jumped onto the whole minted color phase. Because I didn’t have a chance to nab and of the China Glaze or Essie mint shades, this was the next most available and cheapest alternative. I’ve usually liked Revlon and this color definitely made me like it even more, but the application was ridiculous.
Overall: The verdict is that I doubt I’ll be using this possible often unless I’ve managed to master how to handle this well. Hopefully someone will make do with this other than me. Should I have a giveaway? Who actually would be interested?
